Q.  Tell us a bit about yourself and your shop.

A.  I am an architect by trade and a crafter by hobby. I am very interested in the formal exploration of ideas and a conceptual, yet pragmatic, approach to architecture and design. I am particularly interested in sustainable design, and in studying how form and space are created, and in developing the ability to positively transform our everyday lives through excellent design and meticulous attention to detail. My design interests include the narrative power of materials, the graphic presentation of ideas, the intersection of art and architecture, progressive urban redevelopment, retail, furniture, product and exhibition design

A.  What or Who inspires you?

Q. Embroidery is my escape. It allows me to explore juxtaposition, present graphic ideas and indulge in the textural quality of materials. Embroidery allows me to see my design ideas come to fruition in a short time relative to the time it takes to design and create a building. I take inspiration from the natural world and interior design trends. I like to digest and interpret modern ideas and then present them within the medium of embroidery, an inherently traditional craft

Q.  When you're not doing things for your shop can we find you around the internet?

A.  Currently, my only online presence is my etsy shop.

Q.  What tool could you not live without?

A. My MacBook Pro, the Adobe Creative Suite, and my turquoise, vintage Janome sewing machine.

Q.  How did you learn to stitch?

A.  As a child, I learned to hand stitch from my grandmother. Growing up, my family was unable to afford doll clothes, so most of my early designs were doll clothes made from my grandmother’s fabric scraps. In junior high, I learned to machine sew in Home Economics class.
